The proposed solar farm is expected to supply approximately 25 percent of Fort Chipewyans energy and annually replace 800,000 litres of diesel fuel. A battery storage system will store 1.5 MWh of power. Phase 1 will include 1,500 panels (400 kW) while phase 2 will include 6,000 panels (2,200 kW). Both phases will be built one after the other, with completion set for 2020. The Government of Alberta has committed $3.3M to the project.
