Fortress Mountain Resort is proposing an all-season resort at its current site on the Kananaskis ski hill. As part of its master development plan, Fortress proposes turning the former ski hill into a year-round resort with a base-area village, gondolas and lifts, sightseeing, shopping, skiing, mountain biking, hiking, hotels, condos and employee housing.
The resort would be built in five phases over about 15 years. Once complete, it could host up to 8,300 visitors each day. In the initial phase, the focus is on day visitors, with an emphasis on summer, fall and spring activities. The centerpiece of Phase 1 is a lift-accessed sightseeing experience, supported by a range of nature-based amenities.
