Meta is proposing to build its first data center in Canada, a 1 gigawatt facility to be located in Sturgeon County, north of Edmonton. The data center will be powered by a natural gas power plant and will feature a closed-loop water cooling system so it won't draw water from the surrounding area. The project will support over 3,000 construction workers at its peak, 300 permanent jobs and will take three years to complete.
