The City of Calgary is replacing the original lift station that was built in 1958 with a more resilient structure that will continue to pump during events severe enough to flood nearby 3 Street N.W. by over 1.35 metres in depth. The station can continue to pump during events greater than a 1-in-25 year flood event, and can resume service quickly after up to a 1-in-100 year flood event. The new lift station should be in operation by May 2018.
