The Buffalo Plains Wind Farm is the largest single-phase wind farm in Canada. Upon completion, it would generate 466 MW of power through 83 wind turbines just west of Lomond, Alberta.
The project has received AUC approvals and municipal approvals. The project is expected to create 250 jobs in its construction phase, as well as 15 permanent jobs after becoming operational.
ABO Wind sold the project to Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners in 2022. In November 2023, Amazon announced an investment into the project to offset their emissions.
