In June 2024, the Alberta Utilities Commission approved Strathcona's application to significantly expand the Lindbergh cogeneration facility by adding three new 22.5 MW natural gas-fired cogeneration units to the existing three 7.5 MW units. This will increase total power production capability from 22.5 MW to 90 MW. Of the 67.5MW to be added, ~20 MW will be for expanded SAGD operations and ~47.5 MW for sale to Alberta's electricity market.
