This is an approved Government of Alberta capital project.

The project will see 41 kilometers of Highway 43 repaved from the bridge over the Athabasca River at the Whitecourt city limits, to 23 kilometers east of Highway 947., along with improvements to the intersection near Whitecourt on Highway 43 at Grovenlock Road/West Mountain Road, and new safety rest stops.
