The Alberta Training Centre of Excellence for Aviation and Aerospace is being developed by Montreal-based CAE Inc. in partnership with WestJet, Government of Alberta, and the Calgary Airport Authority.
The facility will be constructed near the Calgary airport as a 126,000-square-foot aviation training complex capable of hosting eight full-flight simulators, cabin trainers and digital learning tools. The centre will have the capacity to train approximately 6,000 industry professionals annually, including both pilots and cabin crew members upon completion.
The Government of Alberta is contributing almost $11 million in funding support for the project development, which includes $3.76 million to CAE through the Investment and Growth Fund. The project will create 25 permanent jobs, and 189 temporary construction jobs.
