The project will replace Calgary's first downtown substation which opened in 1912. The new facility will include a 35,000-square-foot building with six high-voltage transmission lines and 24 medium-voltage network feeder lines.
Early construction work began late 2022. A building permit for the new substation was issued on June 16, 2023.
